The new Doctor Mid-Nite makes his JSA debut, as the now-evil Obsidian has possessed the JSA, except for Black Canary! The Canary has avoided the corrupting influence of Obsidian's so far, but can she and Doctor Mid-Nite rescue her friends and save the city? "Darkness Falls" part 2.

Black Canary and Doctor Mid-Nite free the captured Justice Society of America members. Obsidian reveals how he is more powerful now and how he can see the darkness in others. Ian Karkull returns from the Shadowlands with Alan Scott and the JSA fights Obsidian. Somehow, the JSA is able to flee, leaving Obsidian and Ian Karkull behind. Karkull expresses his desire to rule the Shadowlands, but Obsidian informs him that he was only using Karkull for power. Obsidian then seemingly kills Karkull and spreads his darkness around the whole world.
